ADKINS, MARY KATE NINE - 72, of Powell, died on March 25, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Ray Adkins; father and mother, Alva and Flossie Nine; and her brother, Ray Nine. She leaves behind her daughter Beverly Adkins Mize; son-in-law Rick Mize, of Knoxville; and her daughter Linda Adkins of Huntsville, AL; as well as her beloved grandchildren, UTCN Joshua Mize and Amanda Mize of Knoxville. She is also survived by her brother Owen Nine, of Augusta, GA; brother and sister-in-law Ben and Nita Nine of Hickory, NC; niece Diana Nine of Knoxville; cousins Marie Robinson Jackson and Harley Robinson of Knoxville; and dearest friends Kirby and Faye Rand of Powell. Mary Kate Nine Adkins was a 1955 graduate of Karns High School and was a lifelong member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed working at Food City in Powell for the past several years, and she loved playing Bingo with her Bingo buddies every Wednesday. Mary Kate Nine Adkins leaves behind many much-loved co-workers, neighbors, friends, and her three cats. The family would like to thank the staff of Select Specialty Care Hospital at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion. Mary Kate Nine Adkins was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Funeral service 6:00 p.m. Saturday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. Family and friends will meet at Tennessee State Veterans' Cemetery, 11:30 a.m. Monday for a graveside service.
