PHILPOT, KAREN - age 65, of Knoxville, passed away February 3, 2010 and is finally home with her Savior after a long battle with cancer. Karen graduated from ETBH School of Nursing, and was employed by Ft. Sanders and Baptist Hospitals. She was an active member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and Central Baptist Church of Fountain City. Karen is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Philpot; father, Ralph Moore; brother, Steve Moore. She is survived by her mother, Geraldine Moore; daughter, Kristin Carris and husband Scott; son, Lance Fuson and wife Renée; 5 precious grandchildren, Sam and Christopher Carris, Logan, Sydni, and Cooper Fuson, We love you, Nana; Sheila and many other beloved cousins; special friends, Ruth, Nancy, Jerry, Inez, and Sheila Ely, of Oklahoma. Special remembrance of all the doctors and staff of Baptist Eye Institute, where she was employed for 20 years. Special thanks to Dr. Russell Devore and all the nurses at Tennessee Cancer Specialists, especially Susie, Dr. Christopher Sawyer, and Kim, and the staff at St. Mary's Hospice. Funeral service Saturday 7:00 PM at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev. Ron Mouser officiating. Family and friends will gather on Sunday at 1:45 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for a 2:00 PM interment service. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. Online condolences may be left at www.rosemortuary.com.
