(April 20, 1930 - September 15, 2009) Mildred Martin Sutton, age 79, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at her home. After Mildred retired from Ace Products, she became the Personnel Assistant and caregiver to her granddaughter Missy Herndon. Caring for Missy was her passion in life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Sutton; daughter, Brenda Woodson; parents, Alger and Ethel Martin; sisters, Juanita Taylor and Agnes Forner. She is survived by her daughter, Pam Herndon; grandchildren, Missy Herndon, Renae Venerable and Chad Woodson and wife Julie; great grandchildren, Jeremy Ramsey, Tyler Venerable, Brailyn James, Brittany Ottinger, and Tia Valentine; sister, Bobbie Barnes; special nephews, Forrest “Sonny” Greene, Jerry Forner and wife Jean; great nieces, Karen Isaacs and husband Tim, Shea Childers and husband Todd, Shayna James and husband Brandon, and Minnie Sue Ragsdale; special friends, Jean Walker, Mary Watkins and Sandra Pleasnick; Missy’s dog Bubbles; also many other special family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Manes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, September 18, 2009 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Wayne Ownby officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
