Hazel was born, lived, attended school and worked almost all her life in Newport. Following that she worked for and retired in 2000 from Roses Stores, both at the Newport and the Morristown locations. She was an active member of Newport’s Business Women’s Club as long as her health allowed.
She was a wonderful Christian lady who loved the Lord and all His People. She was a lifelong member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. She served faithfully there wherever needed as long as she lived in Newport. While living with her niece in Unicoi, she attended University Parkway Baptist Church, Johnson City. Humble by nature, she was easy to love and laugh with and will be remembered as good friend by many in Newport. In her last years, she continued to minister to many others through a Birthday Ministry. She would call her many friends, acquaintances, former co-workers and family members each year on their birthday just to show someone remembered them.
