PIERCE, SARAH RUTH MAPLES (SHEPARD) - was born on September 14, 1920. She passed away on May 26, 2011 at the age of 90 in Knoxville, TN. She was a resident of Trinity Hills of Knoxville and a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; N.R. and Ida Maples; brothers, J.P., Marshall (Tip Maples, Paul (Tom) Maples, Albert (Demp) Maples, J. Clifford Maples, Clyde Maples; sisters: Hattie McCollum, Babe Julian, Lil Campbell, husbands, Bervil C. Shepard & George Pierce; daughter, Yvonne Porterfield and husband Roman; infant son, Gerald Shepard. She is survived by: daughters, Carol Fisher and Judy (Benny) Snyder; grandchildren, Gerald, Kevin & Keith (Lisa) Porterfield. Angela (Ronnie) Thompson, Paula (Paul) Caldwell, Dwight Campbell (Dorothy), Shelly McDonald and Bradley (Jamie) Snyder; great-grandchildren; Mallory (Jonathan) O'Bryant & Morgan Thompson, Brandon & Caroline Campbell, Kaitlyn, Braden & Cole Snyder, Brittany & Jimmy Porterfield; step-children, John (Kati) Pierce, Patty Asbury, Doris (Ron) Caldwell; sister in law, Barbara Maples. The family will receive friends on Friday May 27th 2011, at Highland South Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm. Graveside services will be Saturday May 28th 2011 at Highland South Memorial Park at 9:00AM. Officiant will be Chaplain David Collins. In lieu of flowers please send donations to The American Heart Association , and Valley Grove Cemetery Fund 9000 Old Sevierville Pike, Knoxville, Tn 37920.
