CAMPBELL, LILLIE CELIA MAPLES (LIL) - ascended softly on the wings of angels, into the arms of Jesus at Parkwest Medical Center at 1:25 a. m. March 18, 2010 at the age of 92 years. Then I heard a voice from heaven blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. "Yes, they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them." With her husband, David she owned and operated Dixie Lee Boarding Kennel from 1966 -1980. This was the first boarding kennel to be located in West Knoxville. She and David also were active in breeding and showing toy and miniature poodles, some of which were champions. Their poodles were among the finest quality in the Knoxville and East Tennessee area. Ms. Lillie was a former member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. She and her love David were married on January 1, 1942 at New Hopewell Baptist Church, was a member of Meridian Baptist Church for almost 20 years, and presently a member of First Baptist Church of Concord. Adored by her children and grandchildren and loved by all who knew her. She lived the Golden Rule everyday of her life. Ms Lillie is preceded in death by her husband, of 42 years Hugh David Campbell; parents, Nathaniel Redmond Maples and Lousia Jane (Ida) Cogdill Maples; infant sister, Flora; sisters, Hattie McCollum and Alice (Babe) Julian; brothers, Paul (Tom) Maples, Marshal Tipton (Tip) Maples, Albert (Demp) Maples, Clifford (Clif) Maples, Clyde Maples. Surviving to grieve her loss and cherish her memory; children, Daveen (Dee) Whitehead of Knoxville, TN, Michael Campbell of Texas, Anita Case and husband, Bob of Knoxville; grandchildren, Timothy Whitehead and wife, Kim of Loudon, TN, Shannon Whitehead and husband, Fred Coward of Knoxville, TN, David Campbell of Texas, Caitlin Case of Knoxville, TN, Dylan Case of Knoxville, TN, Sara Lewis of Minnesota; great-grandchildren, Brett Whitehead and wife, Whitney, of Loudon, TN, Wil Whitehead (grandma's angel boy) of Knoxville, TN, Webster Horan of Texas; great-greatgrandson, Chase Andrew Whitehead of Loudon, TN; sister, Ruth Piece of Knoxville, TN; brother, J. P. Maples of Knoxville, TN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and many loving friends and neighbors. Lillies family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the loving and compassionate care given to their mother and their family to the following people: all nurses, CNA's and all other staff on 3rd Montvue at Parkwest Medical Center. Receiving friends will be Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 12 noon - 2 p.m. at Highland Memorial Park Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Harold O'Bannon officiating.
