He was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church for 80 years. He was retired from the plumbing business. He spent many years and several winters in Clewiston, Florida. Preceded in death by his parents N.R. and Ida Maples, brothers Marshall (Tip), Paul (Tom), Albert (Demp), sister Hattie McCollum, wife Dama Smith Maples. His surviving family will sorely miss him. Wife of 25 years, Ruth White Maples, brothers J.P. and Clyde Maples, sisters Lillie Campbell, Ruth Pierce, Alice Julian and many loving nieces and nephews. Special niece Patsy Banks. The family will receive friends Friday, November 2, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Highland South Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 11 a.m. in Highland South Memorial Park with Rev. Jeff Spangler officiating. Pallbearers will be Charles Hamilton, Charles McCool, Bill Karnes, Charles Glass, Kenneth O"Connor, and Cliff Maples. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Valley Grove Baptist Church family life center. Guest book may be signed at www.highlandmemorialparks.com.
