SMITH, MAURICE LEE - age 83 of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Parkwest Hospital. Member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by parents, Ernest Lee and Murial Smith; son, Gary Maurice Smith; great-grandson, Joel Carder. Survived by wife, Helen Smith; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Cynthia Smith; grandchildren, Christina Hindman, Teresa Jones, Valerie Newman, Sabina Carder, Jeffrey Smith and Julia Kolak; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Vernon Smith. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Tuesday at Weaver's Chapel with the service to follow at 8 pm. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Wednesday at Highland Memorial Cemetery for an 11 am graveside service.
