Fred Lawson Thomas, age 83 of Sevierville, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Fred was born and raised in Sevier County where he lived his entire life. He served two years in the Korean War and was very proud to have served his country. Upon being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, he returned home to farm. Fred met a lovely woman named Imogene Stoner and they fell in love and were married in June of 1957. They had two children. Fred not only enjoyed farming, he also enjoyed working at Bush Brothers Canning Factory where he retired from in 1995. After retirement, he stayed busy working outdoors with a landscaping group and tending to his cattle. He was a devoted member of Fox United Methodist Church, a church he had attended most of his life. Fred lived a good life and will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lonas Thomas; mother, Sarah Byrd Thomas; sisters, Elree Blazer, Eula Mae Greene; brothers, Edsel Thomas, Billy Thomas

Sons: Donald Thomas and wife Juanita
Daughter: Sheila Wilson and husband Bruce
Granddaughter: Amber Thomas and Fiance Scott Simmons
Special granddaughter: Katie VanFossan

Funeral service 7 PM Friday in the East Chapel of Atchley funeral home with Rev. Becky Smithey officiating. Family and friends will meet 11 AM Saturday in Fox Cemetery for graveside service and interment. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM, Friday at Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville.
