CLABO, PEGGY McCARTY - age 71 of Knoxville, passed away Friday December 12, 2003 at Park West Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was an active member of Sand Branch United Methodist Church where she taught children for over 40 years. She is preceded in death by parents, L.C. & Viola McCarty uncle, Clifford Burkhart aunt, Edith Scandlyn and special cousin, Sammie Lynn Puett. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Clabo son, Neil Clabo daughter, Jill Sams and husband, Ben Sams of Ga. and three grandchildren, Tate, Bo. and Peyton Sams. Also left to cherish her memory, aunt Nina Burkhart and uncle, Fred Burkhart and brothers in law and sisters in law, Carl and Carolyn Lusby, Joe and Mary Lou Clabough, Phama Bradfield and Maxine Jenkins several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Leaves many dear friends at Sand Branch and Ashbury U.M. Church. Special thanks to the staff and doctors at Cancer Care of Knoxville and Park West Fourth Floor nurses & staff. Family and friends will receive friends Monday, December 15 at Sand Branch United Methodist Church from 4-7 p.m. Service to follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Kim Isley officiating. Family and friends will meet at Ashbury Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday December 16 for an 11 a.m. interment. Honorary pallbearers: Paul's Crusader Sunday school class, and Ready Workers Sunday school class. Pallbearers: Burkey Burkhart , John Clabough, Tim Huettle, Jim Hayes, Kent Lusby, Joey Riley, and Herb Warren. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Sand Branch United Methodist Church 2301 Thorngrove Pike, Knoxville, Tenn. 37914, or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
