Maxine Lyle Plummer, age 66, of Sevierville, TN passed away peacefully Friday, August 3, 2012 while hospitalized at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She had bravely battled leukemia for the past 13 years during which the Lord blessed her by allowing her to see the marriage of both of her children, the birth of her three grandchildren and the privilege of winning several national championships with her goats. Maxine was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a B.S. and M.S. in Microbiology. After graduating, she and John moved to Chalfont, Pennsylvania where she lived with her husband and family for 39 years. She taught Microbiology at Bucks County Community College in Pennsylvania for over 20 years prior to retiring to the family farm on Boyd’s Creek Highway, Sevierville, TN. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Maxine, along with her family, was an avid breeder of Toggenburg Dairy Goats and Jersey Dairy Cattle. She was particularly proud of having bred several goats that were National Champions. She was also an amateur cheese maker and won three national championships with her goat cheese recipes. Her mother, Pauline Hammer Lyle, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, John Plummer of Sevierville, TN; her son Paul Plummer and his wife Cassi of Boone, IA; her daughter Amy Weatherly and her husband Chris of Grand Junction, TN; her father, Joseph Paxton Lyle of Sevierville, TN; her brother Sam Lyle and his special friend Kay Wilde; and her grandchildren McKindrey, R.J. and Caleb Plummer of Boone, IA.
