Mr. Macon Shelton, age 87, of Parrottsville, passed away Saturday morning, November 10, 2001, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Hazel Shelton; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Deborah Shelton, of Talbott; daughters and sons-in-law, Fayetta and Bruce Gunter, of White Pine and Madge and Billy Williams, of Parrottsville; sister, Marie Phillips, of Newport; brother, Chester Shelton, of Ohio; grandchildren, Jan Bowman, of Greeneville, Jody Gunter, of White Pine, Wendy Haney, of Parrottsville, and Cindy Williams, of Parrottsville; and three great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening, November 11, 2001, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel with Rev. Paul Jennings officiating. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Monday morning at Faubion Cemetery for the 10 a.m. interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
