CLABO, JOHN MELVIN, JR. - age 60, of Cartersville, Ga., passed away Sun., March 11, 2001 in Cartersville. He was born in Knoxville on April 14, 1940 the son of the late John Melvin Clabo, Sr. and Faye Clevenger Clabo. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Massey and Fair as a sales representative. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cartersville, served in the usher and greeter ministry team, member of the adult choir and the five power source class. He was also past master of Cartersville Lodge No. 63 F&AM, Chapter 144 Royal Arch Masons, M.C. of Shadburn Council No. 49, Rome Commandry No. 8, Yaarab Shrine Temple and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Survivors: wife, Rosemary Clabo; daughter & son in law, Laura Jan & Jeff Smith all of Cartersville; mother, Faye Clabo; sister, Sue Ella Clabo both of Seymour. Mr. Clabo is at Highland South Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy. where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tues. with the funeral to follow at 7 p.m. Dr. Clark Hutchinson and Rev. Richard Sims officiating. The family and friends will meet at Highland South Cemetery at 9:45 a.m. Wed. for a 10 a.m. graveside service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Cartersville Building Fund. Arrangements by Highland South Funeral Home, 573-7300.
