Ruth Albright Wallace, age 95 of Knoxville, passed away Monday, December 21, 2009. She was a member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church and formerly a member of Cross Roads Presbyterian. She was born in 1914 in the Walnut Grove community of Campbell County, which was later taken for the construction of Norris Dam. Her parents, Blaine and Ethel Albright, purchased property on McCloud Road in Halls and moved their three daughters there in 1935. Ruth became the pianist at the Methodist Church in Campbell County at age 13, graduated from LaFollette High School, and attended LMU and UT. She taught in Campbell County Schools and taught public school music at Halls Elementary School. She married Robert Franklin Wallace, co-owner of Farmer’s Supply Hardware, in 1941 who preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by her son, Dr. Bob Wallace, Bridgeville, CA and wife, Toi; daughter, Jan Wallace Vallely and husband, Bill, Orange Park, FL; sisters, Nell Albright and Lena Grace Edmondson, both of Knoxville; grandson, Chris Wallace, wife Laurel, and four great grandchildren, Wesley, Brittany, Savannah and Holly all of San Diego, CA; and nephews, Allen, Bob, Keith and Don Edmondson and families of Knoxville. The family is extremely grateful to Sue Tucker and Hilda Cox, both of Corryton for their kindness in caring for Ruth. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 pm in the Halls Chapel of Mynatt Funeral Home with Rev. Sean White officiating. Interment will follow at Lynnhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Residential Hopice; 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938.
