(October 13, 1947 - May 3, 2010) James Robert “Bobby” Carrell, age 62, of Newport, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010 at his home following a lengthy illness . He was a member of Allens Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Newport Masonic Lodge # 234, where he was Past Master, and served as Chaplain. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and was Chairman for the Cocke County Paper Sales and was transportation coordinator for many years. He was a member of Newport Eastern Star Chapter #461, and also belonged to the Shiner Kerbla Temple in Knoxville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Peanut” and Anna Roe Carrell. He is survived by his wife, Deanie “Joe” Carrell of Newport; sons, Travis Carrell of Newport, Bryan Carrell of Florida; daughters, Diedra Brooke Carrell of Newport, Leanna Lee of Atlanta; step-son Timothy D. Garver of Newport; brother Eddie L. Carrell and wife Tammy, sister Glenda Williamson and husband Donald all of Newport; five grandchildren; and a host of other special family and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, May 7, 2010 at Allens Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Leon Large, officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Manes Funeral Home, followed by a Masonic service at 8:00 pm.
