CATE, CARROLL W. - age 88 of Knoxville, died peacefully Tuesday morning, December 15, 2009. He was a member of Dumplin Valley Baptist Church for many years and was retired from the United States Army, serving during World War II and the Korean War. Carroll was a member of the Military officers Association and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, 1976. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, John Lee and Victoria Bailey Cate and daughter, Rebecca Cate Francik. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Cate; son and daughter in law Michael and Mary Nelle Cate; son in law, Terry Francik; grandchildren, Caroline (Matt) Hotmann, Rachel Cate and Loren Francik; great-grandchildren, Brady and Avery Hotmann. Funeral service 12:30 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Reverend Kyle Cate officiating with interment to follow at Tennessee State Veterans' Cemetery.
