He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ella Mae Yates; brother, Charles Wayne Yates; and nephew Steve Yates. He is survived by his companion of 14 years, Phyllis Gentry and her children and grandchildren Michelle Gentry Trent, Dickie Gentry; Bayleigh D. Trent and Rhyleigh B. Hill; brother, Donnie Yates; sisters, Delilah Shelton and husband Berry, and Linda Arrowood all of Del Rio; special nieces and nephews, Ricky Haney, Tommy and Shawn Arrowood; Jason, Christopher, and Steven Yates; Scottie Shelton, Dwayne Yates, Kelly Yates, Shawna Shelton and Christy Williams. Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in Clark Cemetery-Deep Gap, with Rev. Tois Seay officiating with burial following the service.
