Leah Etheleen Clabough, age 85 of Maryville, passed away quietly at home on Thursday, February 7, 2013 with Melvyn Clabough, her husband of 60 years by her side. Etheleen, as she was known to her many friends and family, was born in Blount County to George A. and Elsie Wells Moore on June 21, 1927. She married E. Melvyn Clabough on August 30, 1952 and lived a long life of love and happiness serving the Lord, her family, and her community. As a long-time Baptist church member, most recently with Maryville First Baptist Church, Etheleen sang in the church choir, played the piano, and taught Sunday School for many years. Etheleen demonstrated to her children the value she placed on education when she went to college and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1976. After completing a Master's Degree in Business Administration at Louisiana State University at Shreveport she worked as a teacher and finance officer until she retired as Assistant Finance Director for Blount County Government in 1996. Etheleen was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Earl, Vernon, and G.A. Moore; and sisters Louise Best and Imogene Kerr. She is survived by her husband, Melvyn Clabough, and three children: sons Douglas Clabough (married to Peggy Clabough) of Whitehouse Station, NJ and Neil Clabough (married to Sandra Clabough) of Ellicott City MD and daughter Debra Sellon (married to Rance Sellon) of Pullman, WA. Grandchildren include Brian and Joan Clabough of Raleigh, NC; Michael and Melissa Clabough of Columbus, OH; Kyle, Lauren, and Jared Clabough of Ellicott City, MD; and Ethan Sellon of Pullman, WA. Etheleen welcomed her first great-grandchild, Abigail Joy Clabough, into the world on October 19, 2012. She is also survived by her brother Clinton Moore and his wife Stella Moore of Knoxville, TN. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Lindsey, Laverne, and Martha who provided exceptional care and love to Etheleen and her family. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Smith West Chapel. Services will follow with Rev. Lucas Clabough and Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. Family and friends will assemble for internment at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Maryville First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 202 W Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Maryville, TN 37801.
