Charles A. Phelps Jr., age 83 of Maryville passed away Thursday, April 12, 2007, at University of Tennessee Medical Center with his family by his side. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, and graduated from Knoxville Business College after serving in the Army. He was long term member of Broadway Baptist Church of Maryville. He was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie and Alma Haven Phelps; brothers: Carl "Bud" and an infant brother. Survivors include: wife of 59 years, Kathleen Clabough Phelps; daughter: Janice Phelps Hazlewood; sons and daughters-in-laws: Don and Lavonda Phelps, Alan and Angela Phelps; grandchildren: Justin Hazlewood, Lynn Phelps, Emilly and Allie Phelps all of Maryville; brothers-in-laws: Melvin and Bill Clabough of Maryville and Charles Clabough of Texas; numerous cousins. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 14, 2007, 6:30 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Maryville. The family and friends will meet at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007, at Centenary Baptist Church for Graveside services with Dr. Robert F. Brown officiating.
