BANKS, EDNA V. (SPURLING) 82 - of Upper Deerfield Township, passed away on Sunday morning after being seriously ill the past three months. Mrs. Banks was born & raised in Spartanburg, SC and moved to Pittsgrove Twp. in 1942 where she was a longtime Township resident prior to moving to Carls Corner. Edna was one of 12 children born to the late Forrest and Ara Belle Kirby Spurling. She was the wife of the late Zelmer R. Banks, Sr. who died in 1992.
Before retiring in 1977, Mrs. Banks was employed as a Glassworker for 31 years at the Owens-Illinois Kimble Glass Co. in Vineland. She was a longtime member of the Good News Assembly of God Church where she was also a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Mrs. Banks also served as a volunteer Chaplin at the Bridgeton Hospital. Mrs. Banks loved working with her hands and she especially enjoyed sewing & crocheting.
She is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Zelmer R. and Mary Banks, Vineland, William E. and Charlotte Banks, Port Charlotte, FL; one daughter and son in law, Sandra and Fred Rosenkrans, Eldora, IO; three sisters, Myrtle Gilmer, Buelah Linder and Doris Hill, all of Spartanburg, SC; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Thursday in the Good News Assembly of God Church, Holly Ave. and Big Oak Rd., Upper Deerfield with burial to follow in the Olivet Cemetery, Pittsgrove. Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Rd., Vineland, or on Thursday from 10-11 AM at the Church.
