Homer Henry of Melbourne, FL and formerly of Newport, TN died November 15, 2009 just days shy of his 90th birthday. He was born November 26, 1919, a son of the late Worth and Hattie Henry.
Mr. Henry was a graduate of Hiawassee College, a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, an alderman, business owner, and founding member of Smoky Mountain Country Club.
He loved golf, fishing, painting, and singing. He was fascinated by the culture of the American West. He was a genial host and storyteller and was genuinely loved by everyone who came in contact with him. He was compassionate, generous, a loyal friend, and a superb husband, daddy, and papa to his grandchildren.
Mr. Henry is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, the former Violet Stillman; son and daughter-in-law Philip and Anna Henry of Orinda, CA; daughters and sons-in-law Carole and Jerry McMeeken of Anderson, SC; and Jan and Eric Hohenstein of Los Angeles, CA; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Pat Henry of Lenoir City; and sister-in-law Norma Henry of Melbourne, FL.
Also surviving are grandchildren Scott (and Marcy) Bowers, Selene (and Chris) Johnson, Rhianna (and Marco) Casesa, Tyler and Jack Henry; great-grandchildren Brandon, Devin, and Hailey Bowers and Angus and Ruby Johnson.
Interment and memorial services will be held December 21, 2009, at Suntree United Methodist Church in Melbourne, FL.
