Evelyn Margaret Linkous, the best mom and “Nanny” in the world, born to Della and Elbert Weaver June 17, 1921 passed away at NHC Nursing Home October 19, 2010. Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Howard Clay Linkous, Sr.; sisters Pearl Cobb, Lou Ellen Guinn, Flossie Weaver; brothers Eugene, Bruce and Adron Weaver; daughter-in-law Ann Linkous. She is survived by a sister Loretta Conner and husband Sam, and brothers George and Clifford Weaver. She was a loving and caring mother of four children, Howard Clay Linkous, Jr. (Buddy), Meryl Ann Houston and husband Jim, David Elbert Linkous and wife Pat, and Janice Faye Hall. She was a precious Nanny to her grandchildren, Brian and Mary Linkous, Greg and Lorraine Linkous, Patrick Linkous, Steven and Tracie Hall, Ashley and Bryan McCann, Peggy and Randall Massengill, Clay and Katie Linkous. Great grandchildren: Evy, Coleman, Miranda, Drew, Graciella, Gabriella, Madeline, Julia, Elijah and Gabriel Linkous, Luke and Levi Massengill. Great-great granddaughter, Sophia Linkous. She lived her entire life in the Powell community and was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. As a young woman she was employed at Palm Beach Company and the Oak Ridge Plants. She retired from the Knox County School System having worked at Brickey Elementary School Cafeteria for 25 years. She had such fond memories and love for her friends and co-workers at Brickey. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at NHC Nursing Home of Knoxville for their loving care. Special thanks goes to “our Geraldine”, Sarah, Lois, Steve and Judy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Family and friends will meet at 9:15 am Friday at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a graveside service at 9:30 am. Friends may call at their convenience Thursday until 8 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City.
