Lowell Rudy Cummings, born September 7, 1935, went to be with the Lord on November 24, 2011. He was a Mason and belonged to Sevier Lodge 334. Mr. Cummings was also a Shriner and a member of Kerbela Shrine as well as a member of Great Smoky Mountain and Blount County Shrine Clubs, and the Shrine Express where he participated in numerous parades with miniature 18 wheelers. He was very proud to drive the van that transported children to Shriner Hospitals. He is an Ambassador Emeritus and a former Paper Sale Chairman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Julia Cummings and three brothers, Jack Cummings, Ken Cummings and Larry Cummings.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Mary Helen Cummings
Daughter: Debby Brownlee and husband Mackey
Sons: Lowell Lee Cummings and wife Anna and Tommy Cummings
Grandson: Robert (Bobby) Garrard
Granddaughter: Miranda Kay Cummings
Brothers: Joe Cummings and wife Carolyn, Ronnie Cummings and wife Linda
Numerous nieces and nephews
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Sunday with funeral service to follow at 7 PM in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel. Rev. George Gilbert will officiate. The funeral service will be followed by a Masonic service. Family and friends will meet at 2 PM Monday in New Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery for graveside service and interment.
