BOWLES, MRS. DORA (MAMA DORA) - was born on July 11, 1913 to the late Charles and Ella Brabson in Knoxville, Tn. She was married to the late James Bowles and moved to Cleveland, Ohio in the 1940's. About 11 years ago, she moved to Cleveland, Tn. where she was baptized into the Body of Christ when she was 85 years of age and became a member of the Church of God Sanctified in Cleveland, Tenn. She served as an inspiration to the young and the elderly of the church. Traveling to church events was a favorite pastime for her and she was known for her kindness, generosity, and graciousness. Mama Dora served faithfully on The Mothers' Board of the church, assisting in setting the table of Holy Communion once a month. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ella Brabson; her husband, James Bowles; brother, Richard Brabson; sister, Grace Lee; and a son Tommy Joe Evans. She leaves to mourn her departure her daughter, Louella (Gilford) Hill of Cleveland, Tn. her a son, Charles (Regina) Evans of Knoxville, Tn.; granddaughters, namely Dora Gash and Elsie Walters of Cleveland, Tn.; Avice (Gary) Reid of Knoxville, Tn., Meredith Evans of Dublin, California; Cheryl Glenn of Knoxville, Tn., Cecilia (Rodney) Dunn and Tanya Hill of Cleveland, Tn.; grandsons, namely Charles S. Evans, Jr. of Knoxville, Tn., Guilford (Dera) Hill and James Eric (Norma) Hill of Cleveland, Tn., and Tommy Joe Evans of Cleveland Ohio; 10 great grandchildren (helping to raise Gerald (Crystal) Walters and Courtney Walters; 1 great great grandson and 3 great great granddaughters; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, especially Sharon Piersaul and Alice Cannon. Body may be viewed Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 9:00a.m. until 3:00p.m. at the Patton Funeral Home Chapel, 265 Fair Street S.E., Cleveland, Tn. Family will receive friends Sunday Evening 5:00p.m. until 6:00p.m. at The Church of God Sanctified 746 First Street N.E. Cleveland, Tn. Family will also receive friends Monday, November 16, 11:00a.m. until service time 12:00 noon at the Church of God Sanctified, 729 Cherry Street, Knoxville, Tn. Interment Highland South Memorial Park, Knoxville, Tn. Reverend Rodney Dunn, officiating, Bishop Guilford R. Hill, Eulogist. Patton Funeral Home in charge of service.
