MAYS , GEORGE HAROLD - age 66 of Knoxville, passed away August 11, 2000 after an extended illness. He was a member of Mars Hills Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, George Lee and Sallie Wyatt Mays . Survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Barbara King Mays . He was loving father to Judy Kirkus (Clint Riggan) of Nashville, Tenn., Jan Anderson of Knoxville and Jim (Irene) Mays of Vancleave, Miss.; and grandfather to Brandon Dunlap and Sharon and Kathy Mays . He will be missed by brother, Robert Lee Mays and sister, Helen Burkhart as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service: 7 p.m. Saturday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Rev. Earl McCosh officiating. The family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m.Sunday at Asbury Cemetery for a 2 p.m. interment service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made for research to the American Cancer Society, East Region Office, 871 Weisgarber Rd. Knoxville, Tenn. 37909 or to the American Heart Assoc. East Tennessee Region, 4708 Papermill Drive Knoxville, Tenn. 37909. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
