PUETT, EUGENE "GENE" - age 93, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in World War II. He was retired from the University of Tennessee, serving in legal counsel, and also a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by his wife, Sammie Lynn Puett; parents, J.C. and Eliza Jane Dye Puett; brothers, Fred and Glen Puett; and sisters, Opal Puett Wallis and Reva Puett. He is survived by his nieces, Sylvia Jean Sigler-Warren of Waterford, MI, and Neeta Jones of Guadalajara, Mexico; nephews, Richard and Judy Wallis of Hendersonville, TN, Jim Wallis of Las Vegas, NV, and Bill Wallis of Chatsworth, CA; multiple great nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Whedbee and Rev. Melissa Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-1:00 pm prior to the service.
