Medical Center. Preceded in death by husband, Sam H. Scandlyn, Jr.; parents, Clabe and Lottie Burkhart ; brother, Clifford C. Burkhart ; sister and brother-in-law, Viola Burkhart and Caulie McCarty ; sister-in-law, Helen Mayes Burkhart , and a long-time friend, W. T. White. She was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Sammie Lynn and Gene Puett; brother, Fred Burkhart ; sister-in-law, Nina Burkhart , all of Knoxville; very devoted and loving nieces and their husbands, Peggy and Bill Clabo, Connie and Herbert Warren, and Becky and Kim Coker; nephews and nieces-in-law, Terrell and Carolyn Burkhart , Freddy and Connie Burkhart , Jeff and Jean Burkhart , Tim and Tracy Burkhart , and Burkey and Susan Burkhart , all of Knoxville; numerous great nieces and great nephews. Loving and caring caregivers, Wilma Collins, Jessica Collins and Elaine Owens; special friends, Mary Baugues, Marlene Burns, and Bob and Lorita Tadlock. A family graveside service will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. at Greenwood Cemetery, Dr. P.L. Rowlett officiating. A celebration of Mrs. Scandlyn's life will be held, Tuesday evening, 7 p.m., at Fountain City United Methodist Church, Dr. P. L. Rowlett and Mr. Bill Clabo officiating. Memorials may be made to the Edith Scandlyn Special Music Fund, c/o Fountain City United Methodist Church, 212 Hotel Ave. Knoxville, TN 37918. Friends may call at their convenience at the funeral home. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the church. Arrangements by Gentry-Griffey Chapel.
