Burkhart, Fred McDonald (Babe) age 89 of Seymour, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Fred was a member of Seymour First Baptist Church. He owned and operated Burkhart's Exxon in East Knoxville for over 30 years, was a member of the Fraternal Order of Masons and a World War II Army Veteran in the U. S. Army Air Corps. Preceded in death by parents, Clabe McDonald and Lottie Jane Burkhart; beloved wife of 50 years, Helen (Mays) Burkhart; brother, Clifford (Buck) Burkhart; sisters, Viola McCarty and Edith Scandlyn. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Terrell and Carolyn, Freddy and Connie, Jeff and Jean and Tim and Tracey Burkhart; grandchildren, Brent (Kelly), Ashley, Corey, Ryan (Andrea), Cody (Kristin) Wes and Catlin Burkhart; great grandchildren, Marcus, Baylee, Cason, Isabella and Archer; several special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway from 5:00-7:00 pm with the service to follow at 7:00 pm. Rev. Bruce Yates officiating. Family and friends will meet Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Asbury Cemetery for an 11:00 am graveside service. Honorary pallbearers will be Merwin Borders' Sunday School Class. Pallbearers will be grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seymour First Baptist Church, 11621 Chapman Highway, Seymour, Tennessee 37865.
