James H. Bryant, age 87, of Maryville passed away Saturday, October 30, 2004, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII where he received a purple heart for his service. He retired from ALCOA (Topaco Inc.) after 38 years of service. Preceded in death by: parents; Robert and Beulah Cook Bryant; brothers, Harley and Robert Bryant; sisters, Ethel Tipton and Mary Lou Clark. Survivors include: wife, Ruth Self Bryant; daughters and sons-in-law, Marie Haven, Jody and Perry Oliveira, Jamie and Rick Best, all of Maryville, Kelley Sutton of Strawberry Plains, and Sandra Dominico of Kentucky; grandchildren and spouses, Kristi and Larry Tipton, Heather and Ben Bean, Andy Oliveira, Joey Oliveira, Staci Reneau, and Coy Best, Tami and Jerry Morrow, Stacey and Michael Strain, Tonia and Mark Royse; three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Annie Buchanan and Bertha Tipton, both of Maryville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Joan Bryant of Michigan, and Fred and Faye Bryant of Maryville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 1, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Steve Hodges, Rev. Obie Campbell, and Rev. Owen Evans officiating. Family and Friends will assemble on Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. in Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum for Entombment Services. Memorial donations may be made to the Elevator Fund at Immanuel Baptist Church @ 4641 Morganton Rd., Maryville, TN 37801, or the Gideons International @ Blount County South Camp, PO Box 4035, Maryville, TN 37802-4035. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary Co., 983-1000, www.smithmortuary.com
