Joseph Paris Ridenour – Age 89 of Halls went to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and children on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. He courageously fought a battle with Alzheimer’s since 2004. Joe was of the Baptist Faith and a member and deacon of Black Oak Ridge Baptist Church, which he built. He attended Norris High School where he received his diploma. Joe served in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Bennett DD473. He founded Ridenour Home Builders and Supply in 1958 and was one of the first home builders in North Knoxville and surrounding areas. Joe also developed and managed commercial property and his life long passions were building and baseball. He loved to take his family to Florida every year and in 1984 made it his primary residence for 25 years. Joe and his family returned to live in Knoxville to be closer to family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Joe was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Maggie Ridenour; sisters and brothers Huletta Braden, Bill Ridenour, Odessa Stewart, Nola Walters, Dorthy Ford, Madolyn McCoy and Elbert Ridenour; beloved grandchild Will Ridenour; son-in-law Lyde Bales. Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Marjorie Ridenour, cherished children, Linda Bales, Shirley Denton and husband Jim, Steve Ridenour and wife Jill, “King” David Ridenour who Joe and his wife have lovingly cared for over 40 years; beloved grandchildren, Don Bales (Amy), Chris Bales (Mandy) and Tanner Ridenour; great grandchildren, Anna Bales, Alex Bales and Lena Bales; brother Jack Ridenour and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel. Rev. Dale Petterson and Pastor Gary Capps of Black Oak Ridge Baptist Church officiating. The funeral service will follow visitation. Family and friends will meet at 12:15 PM Saturday at Mynatt’s and proceed to Lynnhurst Cemetery for a 1:00 PM interment service. Pallbearers will be; Tanner Ridenour, Allen Ridenour, Don Bales, Chris Bales, Alex Bales and Canice Listenbee. Memorials may be made to Black Oak Ridge Baptist Church building fund
