MERRITT, JOHNNIE LOU HEISKELL - age 77, of Maynardville, passed away at home at 3:47 pm October 27, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a faithful and active member of Millers Chapel Methodist Church, the HMHS Class of 1951 and Hubbs Grove Homemakers. Preceded in death by husband, Roy M. Merritt; parents, Dempsey and Elsie Heiskell, brothers Roscoe, Fred, Jim, Verlin, J. P. and Ben Heiskell; sisters Rosella McCoy, Dorothy Kitts, Ola Myers and Joanna Beeler. Survivors, children, Steve and Rosa Lee Merritt, Phil and Cheryl Merritt, Terry and Sheila Merritt, Sharon and Darrell Brock, and Keith Merritt; grandchildren, Kendra and Brad Merritt, Brian Merritt, Laura Brown, Becky Merritt, Dustin Merritt, Tara Merritt, Caylie Merritt, Jason Brock, Stephanie Brock, and Andrea Clay, great granddaughters, Victoria Lynn Merritt and Marlie Kay Brock; sister, Bonnie Peters; sisters in law and brothers in law, Gertrude and Jack Keener, Mattie and Jack Cox, Carlie and John Mechler, Elaine Farrar, Burton and Mary Charles Merritt, Vera Heiskell; many nieces, nephews and friends, special friends Jeff, Connie and Heaven Foust. Special thanks to new friend Wylene Hamock and her caring neighbors. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, followed by Funeral service at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Cooke Mortuary with Rev. Ken Luton officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Cooke Mortuary to proceed to union Cemetery for 11:00 a.m. interment. Cooke Mortuary, 220 Hwy. 61 East, Maynardville, in charge.
