Preceded in death by wife, Louise Chapman Downey; son, David Lee Downey; sisters, Verna May Downey, Ocie Caroline Downey; and brother Ottie ( Bud ) Walter Downey. Survivors: son, Arthur Downey, Maryville; several grandchildren & great-grandchildren; brother & sister in law, Estel & Mildred Downey; sister, Mary Ruth Dunlap; sister & brother in law, Irene & Oscar best, all of Maryville; several nieces, nephews, & friends; special friend, Mary Downey, Maryville. Funeral service 4:00 pm Friday, September 10.1999, New Providence Primitive Baptist Church, 2633 Six Mile Road, Maryville, Rev. Robert Lee Whitehead, Rev. Ricky Boring officiating.
