Fred Reece Lynn, 81, of Maryville, passed away 2:45 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 240, Unaka Masonic Lodge #651 (50 year member) and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #324. He retired from ALCOA after 27 years and was a member of the 25 Year Club. Member of Dotson Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include wife, Edith Gregory Lynn; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nellie Beaty, of Florida, Sue and Bill Stephens, Tellico Plains; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Denia and Bob Lash, Maryville, Amy and Tommy Long, Lenoir City; stepgrandsons, Adam and Aaron Henry, Joshua and Joseph Yoakum; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Nancy Byrum, Ralph and Pat Guider, Reba Finger, Jimmy and Mary Ruth Guider, Jerry and Phyllis Massingo, Richard and Mary Jo Woods; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by first wife, Nema Sue Byrum Lynn; parents, Luther and Mearle King Lynn; infant sister, Marie Lynn; sister-in-law, Norma Lou Byrum; brothers-in-law, Ray Beaty, Austin Byrum. Funeral 8 p.m. Tuesday, Biereley-Hale Chapel, Rev. Carl Guider officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Wednesday, New Providence Cemetery, Tellico Plains, with military honors provided by V.F.W. Post 5156 and D.A.V. Chapter 93. Masonic service 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. Family will receive friends 6-7:45 p.m. Tuesday at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
