U.S. Veteran Mr. Samuel Crotell Worsham, age 88, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013. He was born on January 12, 1925 in Polk County, a son of the late Samuel Carl and Kindness Oswalt Worsham. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, George, and R.E. Worsham; as well as three sisters, Pauline Wyatt, Ethel Hayes and Charlotte Gable. Mr. Worsham was retired from the Johnson Printing Company of Cedartown. He was a veteran, proudly serving with the United States Army during World War II and saw action in the Pacific Theater of Operations, while stationed in the Phillipines. Crotell was a longtime member of the Southside Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon for 46 years. He was a member of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class and prior to his illness was an active member of the Church Choir. He was a member of the Caledonia Lodge#121F&AM and had served as a Master Mason for more than 50 years.
Mr. Worsham is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty three years; Mildred Brown Worsham, his daughters and sons in law; Judy and Michael Brooks and Kathy and Sonny Newton, his grandchildren; Brandi Jackson and Steve Kinard, Kelli and Adam Tracy, Ashley and Aaron Coalson and 6 great grandchildren, Austin and Abby Guice, Payton and Jenna Evans, Andrew Tracy, Amelia Coalson and Edie Tracy, his brother; Doug Worsham and a sister; Jean Johnson. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services for Mr. Samuel Crotell Worsham will be conducted on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. from the South Side Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Foley, Dr. Rodger Whorton and Rev. Joel A. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery with Rev. Dennis Worsham officiating and with a Flag Detail provided by the Brewster-Cleveland Post 86 Honor Guard. Mr. Worsham will lie in state at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
The family will receive friends on Saturday evening, July 6, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions can be made to either: The South Side Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 478, Cedartown, GA 30125 or to Heyman Hospice Care, 420 East Second Ave, Suite 105, Rome, GA 30161.
The following Gentlemen are asked to serve as Pallbearers: Greg Hale, Jordon Pierson, Charles Pope, Sonny Newton, Michael Brooks and Jerry Collier. The Adult Men's Sunday School Class and the Deacons of Southside Baptist Church are requested to serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
