Edna Mae Smith, 87, of Daytona Beach, Fla., and formerly of Oliver Springs, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at the home of her granddaughter, Lisa Farmer of Daytona Beach.
Born April 30, 1916, in Knox County, she was the daughter of John Griffin and Ida Bell Moore Griffin, both now deceased.
She was a long-time resident of Oliver Springs and moved to Daytona Beach earlier this year. She was a homemaker and a member of Solway Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smith married her husband, Howard Lee Smith, on June 18, 1938, and they recently celebrated their 65th anniversary.
She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
In addition to her husband and granddaughter, Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Robert L. Smith and wife, Cindy, of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Barbara Palmer and husband, Dan, of Oliver Springs; grandchildren, Kim Smith, Tracey Frost and Leslie Pride, all of Kansas, Stacey Smith and Teresa Carroll, both of Clinton, and Jason Palmer and Melinda Palmer, both of Oliver Springs; and by 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Ray Buchannon and the Rev. C.J. Holt officiating.
Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
