James Franklin “Jim” Davidson, 74, retired tailor and resident of Pleasant Drive, Columbia, Tenn., and formerly of Maryville, Tenn., died Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. Entombment will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home and Friday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at (http://www.oakesandnichols.com) A native of Cherokee County, N.C., he was the son of the late Arthur Frank Davidson and Vernie Roberson Davidson. He was also preceded in death by brother, Glen Davidson. He was a graduate of Alcoa High School in Alcoa, and served two years in the U.S. Army. Mr. Davidson was a former driver with the Columbia Fire Department. An excellent tailor for over 50 years and owned his own business, The Tailor Shop in Columbia, Tenn. He also worked for Pigg and Parsons and Levy’s. Mr. Davidson was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, who he married June 12, 1959, Virginia Gayle Plumlee Davidson of Columbia; two daughters, Kathy Davidson Cook of Thompson’s Station; Lynda Davidson (Ken) Lunn of Batavia, Ohio; two brothers, Gary (Tracy) Davidson of Sevierville, Larry (Phyllis) Davidson of Manchester; one sister, Sue (Don) Gibson of Maryville; four grandchildren, Adam (Ali) Cook, Lauren Cook, Chad Lunn, Nina Lunn; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Grace Robertson and Chloe Cook; and several nieces and nephews.
