He was preceded in death by his parents, Payton L. and Ava Jean Proffitt; grandparents, Fred and Mildred Proffitt. He is survived by his uncle, Carrol L. Proffitt, of Newport; aunts, Selena Smith and husband Ken, of Oregon, Sharon Anderson, of Knoxville, Gayenelle Proffitt of Newport; great-uncle, William Lewis and wife Jackie of Newport; great-aunt, Betty Martin and husband Eugene of Newport; cousins Aaron, Randy and Mitch Proffitt and Richie Morgan all of Newport; and Katie Sue Bowlin, Manager of Douglas Cherokee Group Home and all his friends there at the Group Home. Funeral services will be 8:00 pm Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in Manes Funeral Home West Chapel, with Rev. Steve Cable officiating. Burial will be 10:00 am Wednesday, March 2, 2011 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral. Manes Funeral Home in charge.
