She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Millie Carpenter; brother Otis Carpenter; sisters Pauline Boring, Leona Hammontree, Novella Hitson, and Vena Miller. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Akins; daughters, Brenda (Floyd) Oliver; Kathleen Akins; and Cynthia (Jerry) Hearon; son Marvin Akins; sister, Margie Hitson; Ruby Burchfield; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Happy Valley Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Funeral Services will be Monday April 18, 2016 in the Magnolia Chapel at Miller Funeral Home Reverend Beecher Whitehead officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday April 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Happy Valley Baptist Church cemetery.
