ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY—Mrs. Laura M. Carr-Reese, 76, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, died on Tuesday, October 6, in the Atlantic City Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
She was educated in the Cocke County School System and was a graduate of Tanner High School. She moved to New York in 1945, then to Egg Harbor, New Jersey, in 1970, and recently relocated to Atlantic City, New Jersey. A former correctional officer at the Harborsfield Youth Center of Egg Harbor, she retired from ARC of Atlantic County.
She was a former member of Allen’s Chapel Baptist Church, Parrottsville, and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Egg Harbor, New Jersey.
Laura was a very loving and caring person. An excellent and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was fond of children, baking, visiting and watching the soaps on TV. An avid reader and music lover, one of her favorite songs was "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," and her favorite color was blue.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Bervelee Thomas Carr, Parrottsville; a brother, Robert Carr; and a sister, Johnnielee Carr.
She is survived by her husband, James Reese; daughter, Angela Reese; and granddaughter, Tayressia Reese, all of Atlantic City, New Jersey; one brother, Charles H. Carr of Morristown; four sisters, Gladys Dockery, Newport, and Shirley Davis, Alzora Radar and Frances Murphy of Knoxville; four sisters-in-law, Shirley Patton Carr of Morristown, and Katherine Mayes, Marion Sauders and Gertrude Philips of Atlantic City, New Jersey; five brothers-in-law, Tony Davis and Charles Radar of Knoxville, and John, Robert and Rubin Reese of Atlantic City, New Jersey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many fine friends.
The services were held on Saturday, October 10, at Mikal’s Funeral Parlor in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Elder Carol Fambro officiated. The body was cremated.
