At sunrise Sunday morning, April 25, 2004, God called one of His home, Alta Cuberson Dockery, (90), born February 25, 1914, to the late Benjamin and Fronie Cuberson, departed this life after a lengthy illness at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Alta was born in Dandridge, Tennessee, where she met and married Paul Dockery Sr., to this union 12 children were born, Mrs. Dockery united with Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a loved and devoted member. Mrs. Dockery was known for her love of gardening, cooking, and her great love of children. She always had a smile for all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dockery Sr., and son, Burn Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter-in-law, Gladys (widow of Burn Sr.); eleven children, Paul Jr. (Chris), James Clay, Carl Sr. (Geraldine), Mary (Clyde Myers), Joseph Sr. (Vivian), Bobby (Cheryl), Patricia (Laythaniel Haney), Authur, Dwayne, Charlotte, and Theresa; brother, Clyde Cuberson; two sisters, Vaudie Lott and Jennie Ruth Cuberson; forty-six grandchildren; sixty-one great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; a very loving and devoted son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Vivian; loving grandsons that she raised as her own, Shannon and Bubba (Kaden) Haney, Laythaniel Haney Jr., and Gary Haney; a host of other relatives and friends. John 14:1-7.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Manes Funeral Home Chapel followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. Clyde Myers, Rev. Bobby Dockery, Rev. James Billings, and Rev. Billy Davis officiating, with burial in Gum Springs Union Cemetery.
