LEWIS, ROY L. - age 69, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2009, at Ft. Sanders. He was of the Church Of God faith. He was an Air Force Veteran. Preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Anna Lewis and sister, Mary Perry. Survived by loving wife of 52 years, Mary Lewis; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Patti, Rick and Tammy and David and Jannifer; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Andy, Brenda and Carroll and Donna and Frank; grandchildren, Marianna, Tabitha, Stephanie, Amber, Patrick, Andrew, Frankie, Matthew, Erica, Josh, Kevin, Alex and Bethany; great-grandchild, Jeremiah; brothers and sister-in-law, Frank and Wayne and Lyvonne Lewis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline, Sue and Wayne and Madeline and Bill; many nieces, nephews and special friends. As an inspiration to all his family, he always made time to help his sons with racing, watch the grandkids play ball, and brought joy to everyone he met in life and work. He inspired his sons-in-law and daughters-in-law in all walks of life. Everyone he met was a friend. He met them with open arms and a loving heart. As God graced him with a special talent of singing, he used that talent to honor God to sing His praises and share God's word. The family will receive friends 5-8 pm Sunday at Weaver's Chapel with the service to follow at 8 pm. Reverends Blaine Lewis, Frank Sellers and David Collins officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Monday at Pollards Cemetery for an 11 am interment. Pallbearers: grandsons and special friend, Darryl Hickman. Honorary Pallbearers: sons-in-law.
