HENSLEY, JOHN WESLEY III, age 56 of Knoxville passed away June 2, 2005 at his home. John fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. John attended First Church of Nazarene and proudly served in the US Marine Corps. He was a member of the VFW Post 1722. John retired from Engert Plumbing and Heating in 1998. John loved UT football and golfing with his special N.K.G.A friends. John’s devotion to his family was always endearing, he was an amazing man with a beautiful sense of humor cherished by all that knew him. He will be remembered as a man who worked hard to support his family and will now receive his eternal reward in Heaven. Many thanks go out to Dr. Warren Thompson of the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Stephen Miller, Dr. Kim Emmett and the nurses of the Oncology dept of UT Hospital for their continuing care of John during his long illness. He was preceded in death by parents, John W. and Betty Grissom Hensley Jr. sister, Deloris Outland of North Carolina, and father-in-law Taylor Jackson.
Survivors
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Elizabeth Ann Hensley. Also survived by son and daughter-in-law John W. and Kathy Hensley IV, daughter Angel N. Wade and fiancée Rick Fields, step-children and spouses include Leah and Jerry Bowling, William “Rusty” and Rachelle Keck, eight special grandchildren and mother-in-law Mary Jackson, brothers and sisters include Don and Rebekah Hensley of Texas, Jack and Linda Hensley, Pearl and Wayne Whaley, Dotty and Bill Corum, Vickie and Paul Clark, and Kathy and Barry Whitson all of Knoxville. Special friends include Ron Ayers and Sylvia Hull of Knoxville. John leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends
Service
The family will receive friends at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM funeral service will follow at 8:00 PM with Rev. Rick Shelton officiating. Family and friend a will meet at the main entrance to Lynnhurst Cemetery at 1:45 for a 2:00 PM graveside service. Arrangements made by Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Barry Funeral Home, 2300 W.
