WALTER LEE - of Jefferson City, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning, December 19, 1999, at his residence following a brief illness. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Lebanon Baptist Church. Mr. Phillips was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Burnettie Byrd Phillips and brother, Arvil Phillips. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Bernie Marcum Phillips of the home; daughter, Carolyn Tester of Jefferson City; grandsons, Todd Tester and Chad Tester, both of Jefferson City; sisters, Janice Turley, Reba Jarnigan, and Telitha Phillips, all of Jefferson City; brothers, Dana Phillips and Eunice Phillips, both of Jefferson City; special mother-in-law, Delcie Marcum of Oneida; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda and James Beets of Oneida; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday evening, December 21, 1999, from the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City with Reverend R.J. Seal officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, December 22, 1999 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City and proceed to Jefferson Memorial Gardens for an 11 a.m. graveside interment service with Military Honors given by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.
