Melissa Nicole Ponder, 30, of 1781 Aaron Way, in Newport, suffered a “possible” injury on Thursday, June 27, at 8:30 a.m., on the Cosby Highway, near English Street, when a 2010 Dodge minivan, in front of her 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe seen here, came to an abrupt stop, causing her Chevrolet to crash into it. Robert (“Nick”) Holt, 25, of 237 College St., in Newport, seen here with Capt. Scott Lamb, suffered rear end functional damage valued at over $400 to his Dodge minivan, not seen in this photo. Holt said he was traveling north on Cosby Highway when a vehicle in front of him came to an abrupt stop, causing him to stop abruptly, as well, and be hit by Ponder’s Chevrolet behind him.
