Victoria May Morton, age 29, of Gatlinburg, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011. Miss Morton has been battling illness for the past 14 years, showing tremendous courage and grace each and every day. Her interests in life were many and varied. She was an environmentalist, an animal lover, a student of Yoga, an avid reader, and an incredibly gifted creative writer. As a student of Christian Science, she found great comfort and peace in its literature, in the most difficult last few years. She treasured occasions when she was able to go out to see independent films, music concerts, and theatrical productions and she hoped to participate in dance classes herself one day. More than anything, she dreamed of traveling around the world. As she journeys on, may she find herself dancing joyously over foreign lands to her heart’s content.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Angel Hope Morton; grandfather, Louis O. Morton, Sr.; grandmother, Alma Morton; father, Louis O. Morton, Jr. and grandmother, Helena Furbish.
Victoria is survived by her mother, Natalie Morton; brother, Oliver Morton; sisters, Samantha Pirkowski, and Tracey Starker. She was beloved by many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Of special note are Jennifer Hodge and Jim and Sandy Foster, who blessed her so very much, especially during hospital stays.
Thank you for joining us as we celebrate her special life. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Chaplain Sandy Foster officiating. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
