He was of the Baptist faith. Jr. was the parking attendant at Wayne Pratt Parking at St. Mary's Medical Center for several years and he never met a stranger. Jr. was preceded in death by wife, Ruby C. Monroe, son, CM Sgt. Edward C. Monroe, father and mother, John Elvin Monroe, Sr. and Lennie M. (Carr Monroe, sisters, Trula Lody, Edna Sharp & Edith Smith. Survived by daughter, Shirley Ann Hopkins of Atlanta, Ga.; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Johnson of Luttrell, Susie McCarter of White Pine, Tenn.; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. Ailor Chapel Rev. Joe McCoy officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ailor Mortuary and proceed to Monroe Cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service. Pallbearers will be nephews. Ailor Mortuary Maynardville.
