Mrs. Lora Ruth Taylor Hicks, age 46, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Jefferson City Health & Rehab Center. She was a loving mother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Gene Hicks and parents Wilbur and Marie Taylor. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Haley and Russell Miller of Dandridge, son Elliot Hicks of Bybee; granddaughter Aubrey Miller of Dandridge; sister Mandy Taylor Anderson of Atlanta, GA; and aunt Ruth Ramsey of Newport. Additional survivors include several cousins including Ronda Freeman of Hartford; Vonda Banks and Mildred Ford, both of Cosby; and Nancy Denton of Dandridge; and special friends including Heather Akers, Constance Toby, Lisa Montgomery, and Chad Booterbaugh, all of Newport, and Aaron Blanton and Ashley Spoon, both of Cosby. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at Union Cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service with Pastor Willis Miller officiating. Special thanks go to the staff of Jefferson City Health and Rehab Center and Smoky Mountain Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to help with final expenses.
