Aldo Ottinger, 89, of 280 Peanut Rd., Parrottsville, died Sunday morning, April 25, at Takoma Adventist Hospital.
He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Ottinger had lived all his life in the Long Creek and Salem area of Cocke County. He was a life-long and faithful member of Salem Lutheran Church, serving on the council and on many committees of the church.
He was the son of the late Charles J. and Cordia Ottinger and was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Blanch Ottinger, who died May 28, 1998; brothers, Hobert, Milburn and Noland Ottinger; and three sisters, Virgie Hawk, Rhoda Smelcer and Stella Ottinger.
Survivors: a special nephew and caretaker, Dale LaFollette, who was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Ottinger from an early age; three brothers-in-law, Willis Ottinger and Trent Ottinger, Parrottsville, and John B. Ottinger of Greene Co.; sisters-in-law, Hassie Lee Ottinger, Johnson City, Charlsie Hawk, Johnson City, and Joan Birdwell of Jonesborough; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.
The funeral will be 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kiser Funeral Chapel with Pastor Claude Villemaire officiating. Interment will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
It is requested that friends meet at the cemetery for the graveside service on Wednesday morning.
Active pallbearers: Joe Anderson, Jack Ray Ottinger, Jerry Ottinger, Robert Ottinger, Johnny Ottinger, and Dallas Ottinger.
The body is at Kiser Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening preceding the funeral service.
