Ellie L. (West) Bryant, age 74, of Morristown, passed away at her home surrounded by her family Thursday, July 22, 2010.
Ellie was born January 18, 1936, in Sweetwater, TN to Ambers E. and Jannie E. West. She was a graduate of McMinn County High School, Carson-Newman College (BS), and East Tennessee State University (MA).
Ellie's love of children led her to her life's vocation of teaching for twenty-five years, starting in Hamblen County and then in Jefferson County at Talbott Elementary School until retiring in 1992.
Ellie professed faith in God at an early age and was a member of Manley Baptist Church for forty-five years, serving as church clerk for twenty years, G.A. leader, and Sunday School teacher for residents of Life Care Center.
Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother Billy Albert West, and brothers Ralph and J. R. West.
Ellie leaves to cherish her lasting memory of love and devotion her husband of fifty-four years Eldridge Bryant; children Kendall and wife Rhonda Bryant; Kerri Woman, and Bryan and wife Sarah Bryant; grandchildren Aaron Moore, Blake Childress, Kirstin Womack, and Austin, Preston, Madison, and Keaton Bryant; great-grandchild Jaidyn Childress; sister Retha Wallace; and devoted sister and care-giver Bernice (Deedie) West; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Manley Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Emmert officiating.
Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Manley Baptist Church Library and Mission Funds.
