CLAPP, GEORGE ROSS - age 83, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. Member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church. He was past secretary-treasurer and president of Teamster's Local 519 and past president of Teamster's Retirees Club. Member of Charles McKiney Lodge #433 F&AM, was a 32nd Degree Mason and a 50 year member of the Eagles. He spent his life fighting for their benefit of working people. Preceded in death by wife, Loraine Clapp; sister, Geneva Butler. Survived by daughter and son in law, Brenda & Carroll Logan; grandchildren and spouses, Rhodes & Amy Logan, Heather & Rob Bartlett of Cleveland, Tenn.; great grandchildren, Wendy and Alex Logan; sisters; brothers and spouses, Jim & Mildred Clapp, Agnes & John Beeler, Willie & James Lester of Chattanooga, David and Martha Clapp, Chester and Wanda Clapp of Wichita, Kan., Ina Clapp and Bill Butler; many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Service 8 p.m. Monday Mynatt's Chapel, Rev. Max Reddick officiating. Family and friends will meet at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Grainger County at 11 a.m. Tuesday for interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Foundation of Fountain City Presbyterian Church, 500 Hotel Rd. Knoxville, Tenn. 37918. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Mynatt's.
